Privacy policy

How SolarWatt UK handles your personal data, in line with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

Last updated: 31 July 2026

The short version

In plain English: SolarWatt UK is a free calculator site. The calculators on this website run entirely in your browser — we do not see, store, or transmit the numbers you enter (your region, bill, system size, etc.). The only personal data we process is what you voluntarily submit through a lead form (name, email, phone) when you request installer quotes, plus standard anonymous analytics and advertising cookies described in our cookie policy.

1. Who we are

SolarWatt UK ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at uksolarcalc.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal data we collect through this site.

If you have any question about this policy or your data, email privacy@uksolarcalc.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

2.1 Calculator inputs — not collected

All five calculators (savings, panel count, cost, ROI, battery) run as client-side JavaScript. The values you enter (region, bill, system size, tariff) are processed by your browser only and are never sent to our servers. We have no access to these inputs and do not store them.

2.2 Lead form data — when you request quotes

If you use a "Get quotes" or similar call-to-action, you may be asked to submit:

This data is collected so we can pass your enquiry to one or more installers in our network. We do not store payment data — we never see your card details.

2.3 Analytics and advertising data

We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, which set cookies on your device. These collect aggregated, pseudonymous data such as pages visited, referral source, approximate region, and device type. Full details are in our cookie policy.

3. Lawful basis for processing (UK GDPR Article 6)

4. How we use your data

We do not use your personal data to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Who we share your data with

5.1 Installer partners

When you submit a lead form, your contact details are passed to up to three MCS-certified installers in your region. Each installer is an independent data controller for the data once they receive it. We do not control how they use it — please review their privacy policies.

5.2 Service providers

5.3 Legal disclosure

We may disclose data where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. International transfers

Some service providers (notably Google) may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, transfers are protected by UK International Data Transfer Addenda, UK Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK-US Data Bridge, in line with UK GDPR Chapter V.
